Telitha Haggard
Telitha, a dignified and ambitious thirty year old lady, was earning
a good living teaching special penmanship schools and seamstress, She
made the dress she is wearing in above photo. The material was silk
and the colors were green and white. She also hired out for cooking.
Rice and Telitha are the parents of Louetta, Mary, Maggie, Emma,
McGarvey, and Virgil. In 1880 Rice bought a farm on Oak Hill Ridge
later known as Ware. Ky. He was a farmer, merchant and first
postmaster at Ware, Ky. In 1913 Telitha was thrown from a horse. She
was on her way to visit her grandson Ressie Ware, who was ill. Seven
days later she died from the injury. She is buried at Watson's Chapel Cemetery.
